Award-winning South African singer Makhadzi is recovering at home after being hospitalised following a car accident late on 31 December 2025, her management confirmed.
The Limpopo-born entertainer, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, was involved in the crash while travelling from Limpopo to Johannesburg on the busy N1 highway near Mokopane, ahead of a scheduled New Year’s Eve performance.
According to her team at Makhadzi Entertainment, the incident occurred on the morning of 31 December when Makhadzi and members of her team stopped by the roadside to inspect a strange sound coming from their vehicle. While the driver checked the car and the group stretched their legs, an oncoming vehicle struck Makhadzi.
Paramedics quickly took the singer to Polokwane Hospital, where she received medical care. Her condition was described as stable, and doctors kept her under close observation as she began her recovery.
After several days in hospital, Makhadzi was discharged and is now recuperating at home, focusing on rest and rehabilitation under medical advice. Her spokesperson said her steady improvement and discharge were welcome developments after the frightening incident.

City officials and entertainment industry figures also extended messages of encouragement, emphasising her positive impact on the South African music scene.
Makhadzi has become one of South Africa’s most celebrated contemporary artists, known for energetic performances and hit songs like Kokota and Ghanama. She has won multiple awards and built a loyal fan base for her fusion of Afro-pop and traditional sounds.
Her management continues to request privacy for Makhadzi and her family as she continues to recover, promising to share further updates through official channels when appropriate.
